Question: Jay, you mentioned that the Men's Non-Monogamous Support Group had a discussion on Couples Privilege and Singlism. I've never heard that before. Can you explain those terms?
Jay's Answer: According to the book “Open Deeply” by Kate Loree, LMFT, within the practice of Consensual Non Monogamy (CNM) “Couples Privilege” revolves around the advantages, benefits and accommodations that couples are inherently given in society at the expense of single people or non-nested partners. To further that idea, “Singlism” is the unfair treatment of those who are neither in a relationship nor part of a couple dynamic.
